One Month, zero successful print jobs

Pros: We selected this printer because it prints tabloid size.
Cons: The printer has not produced quality printable output. Now it doesn't even turn on properly.

We have had the Phaser 7400 in our Graphics Program for just over one month. From day one, the printer spews pages of garbage at startup instead of a test page.

We have had a problem with the cyan toner since day one.

We have not yet received a cyan toner cartridge that does not leak toner. The last two received had toner all over the inside of the packaging.

Today, tray 3 started giving an error. The printer won't power on properly with the error.

Basically, we have spent thousands of dollars for a color printer that has produced no useful documents.

Until Xerox deals with these issues in a timely fashion, I would not recommend purchase of this model to anyone.

Very Good, Consistent Printer

Pros: Quality excellent, cost per print 10 cents.
Cons: Xerox is slow in updating the firmware.

We began using the Xerox Phaser 7400 in January, 2006. We have consistently printed between 10-15,000 prints per month with few errors and less than a handful of paper jams.

We determined to use the Postscript printer driver which seems to produce better quality prints overall. The printer is a laser printer, and the screen density is about 120-150 lpi based on eyballing the print quality.

For things like newsletters, brochures, business graphics, the printer is superb. If you want to print out photos, get a high quality inkjet printer or bubblejet roll printer.
